Buying a used rear

Hey all,

Tonight i'm going to look at a 9bolt with 373gears and suppoedly some type of locker diff,out of a 86' Iroc Z supposedly it has new gears and everything.

Is there any way to tell if theres a significant amount of wear on a rear or if it's shot completely? i really don't want to get beat.He says he has the cover off to show me the gears nd stuff.

3.73's are a 10-bolt gearing. Info on both 9- and 10-bolts may provide helpful info:
