need help figuring tranny out

So i just got my transmission replaced (700r4) because i killed mine and the mechanic said it had corvette servos and something else i cant remember. the car feels like it needs more gas to take off normal but when accelerating it doesnt drop the rev as far as it did before when shifting. but when nailed off the line it feels quicker and when in D it shifts at higher rev than it used to. what ya think has been done to it?

This is all easily explained by a looser, higher-stall torque converter. This is a performance thing. See, if you used a bigger cam, your torque band would be shifted to a higher RPM range. You'd have less torque off-idle than stock. So the higher stall speed lets the engine get into it's higher RPM band before having to pull the car.
You may get less MPG in town.
