Vid of engine movement due to tranny mount.

Today My engine mounts were replaced, they were toast. Even with new mounts the engine is moving forward and the tranny is hitting the chassis(only hits on hard acceleration from a stop). The tranny mount is about a year old. Is it possible this one is bad now? It was a factory replacement. I will now get a poly tranny mount. The vid is of the car in drive while holding the brake and hitting the gas.

See the tranny(top left) moving up. Holding brake in drive hitting the gas. Then in reverse, but hardly any movement in reverse. The ramps and stands in the background are on another vehical.

The one on my GTA is busted. I got tired of ripping them, might as well chain the darn thing down or go to a polyurethane mount.

A good thread on the topic:

You might also seriously consider getting the torque arm off the tailhousing due to the stress it places on the mount and the tailhousing.

Is it possible to change the torque arm bushing without removing the arm from the rear end? Mine does not look too good

no, and taking off the torque arm is not the end of the world.

getting the clamshell that holds the bushings apart is usually harder.

where did you get the replacement trans mount? a quality one from the dealer or a ACdelco dealer should last a heck of a lot longer than a year.

if you get a poly mount, i vote for the prothane one. It has served me well on my 86 for 6? years now. the ES one i had before was toast in about 2 years, and i put very few miles on that car.
