tv cable 700r4

are the tv cable's on a tranny for a 305 tbi shorter than the one's for a 350tpi? I've just got my swap in and the tv cable dosn't seam to be long enuff.Either it's not running the proper route or there is a difference.

Re: tv cable 700r4

thier is a difference. The TPI cable connects on the throttle body more towards teh front of the engine. So the tbi cable will not work

Re: tv cable 700r4

I was afraid of that.I've already taken the iroc cable off the broken tranny and figure I can tie a string onto the end of the tbi tv cable so when I pull it out it will be easyer to get the right one back in. thanks for your input.

Re: tv cable 700r4

OK,got the cable changed and everything seamed to work good exsept for the first few miles it didn't want to shift until about 3500rpm.after a 7mile driver shifting went fin.So I tryed to kick it down into passing gear at a 45mph speed and nothing.tryed again at 55 and still no kick down.whats up?I'm preaty sure theI got the tv cable hooked up.I had to do it with the tranny alredy in and no one to keep presure on it while I lowered the base in place.Would it shift ok if the cable had sliped off?Got a few othe things going on but thoughs dont belong in the tranny board. Thanks!

Re: tv cable 700r4

no,It was the same cable that was in the car to start with.Didn't think it would be different. What would the tranny be doing if the cable sliped off the little wire conector in the tranny? That thing was sort of hard to keep hooked and ease the cable housing down from the angle I was at.
