im trying to change the oil in the rear diff but i cant get to the two bolts because the rear sway bar is in the way... is there another way to change the gasket and oil or do i have to remove the sway bar? also, can someone tell me the bolt size for the filler hole where you refill the oil

the filler hole is, IIRC 1/2 NPT. maybe 3/8, but its definatly pipe thread
as for the cover bolts, i have never had that problem. Try raising or lowering the axle to get the swap bar to rotate out of the way a little. out use a wrench to remove the bolts, the bar shouldnt be that close.

As the rear articulates through its range of motion, the bar moves up and down in the center.
If you have the car supported by the "frame" with the rear hanging, try jacking up each end of the rear partway and putting another stand under it.

Oh hey and for that pipe plug thing you were talking about I was able to use just a 3/8" socket wrench, should fit right on there. Also make sure you remember exactly how the cover goes back on, I had a crappy time trying to match up the bolt holes and maneuvering it around the sway bar, flipping the cover around getting sealant all over my hands but I'm not right in the head so you should be fine.
