It's not just peak HP. It's average HP through the whole 1/4 mile. Your relatively high torque at relatively low rpm sure helps with that. But your car could be more fun with some decent rear gears. At least a 3.23:1.

I saw an LO3 / T5 Firebird beat an import car that supposedly had "200 horses" and the kid couldn't understand why he lost. I asked him how much torque his engine made. He said, straight faced; "Torque? How could that even matter?
