aluminum drive shaft, need help

aluminum drive shaft, need help

ok guys, there is a guy parting out his 96 slp ss. im sceptical on wether or not the car has an aluminum shaft in it, im in need on a aluminum shaft for the third gen, and he claims that its aluminum. but far as i know that shaft only caame with ls1 cars. does the fact that its an slp carmake a difrence? any insight would be much appretiated

i think it'd be more liekly to have an aluminum shaft IMO. But why cant you just look at it and see if its aluminum when you pick it up?

, thats the painfully obvious way to check.... I thought the lt1 cars has steel charts personally.

well i wanted to know befor i drove out there, but oh well. well it was a steel, aluminum shafts didnt com out in th 4th gen till 98. i took one look at it and coul tell you it was steel, but th guy argud with me that it was aluminum, lol ummmmmmm aluminum woul not have that rust brown color hahaha, so thanks guys , now we know for sure

sorry I did not know that they didnt come in 4th gen's til 98. the magnet test it the easiest test. And as far as the SLP ya think it'd be more likely
