WHAT HAPPENED TO MY T56?!? TRANS GUYS PLEASE CHIME IN

So I got my t56 in sunday afternoon...monday nite I installed the shifter and my modified clutch rod(on the master cylinder). Ran it thru the gears a couple times and seemed ok...so this afternoon I got home and went to install the driveshaft and torque arm. When I went to put the driveshaft in, the output shaft on the trans didn't turn! Had the wife push the clutch in and it turned. Ran the shifter thru the gears again, now the output shaft doesn't turn at all. Even with clutch pushed in?! Called the guy that went over the trans. He said he tripple checked it after they got it together and it had neutral. All he did was take it apart, clean it and installed new synchros( one was broken). Did I mess something up by running it thru the gears? I really don't wanna pull this thing back out! What could have happened?! This thing is scheduled to go to JS performance in 2 weeks to get tuned. Anything I can try to do before I tow it over to the trans guy?

it could just be stuck, but thats unlikely since it was free before. if you just put the yoke on and put some force on it, can you pop it free and get it to turn or is it jammed solid?

What's the history of the trans/shifter? Could it be a GTO T56 and Fbody shifter? Could you have missed the shifter cup or installed the shifter backwards?

I'd start with the shifter and make sure it has fluid in it.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO MY T56?!? TRANS GUYS PLEASE CHIME IN

The trans is out of a 95z. Got it from a guy that has a body shop that does a lot of work on classic cars(he was gonna put the motor in a 70's camaro). Came out of a running car. The guy I had go over it is not a trans specialist, but he has a very reputable repair shop and he definately knows his stuff. He's a long time hot rodder that has a 7 second comet. He's done work on my other cars for the last 2 years. He told me he had the trans apart twice before he was content with the way it felt. I put some fluid in(2 qts) but need to top it off. When I run the shifter thru the gears, it feels like its shifting. Talked to my guy a 2nd time and he told me if I don't get it to free up I can bring it to him and he'll make it right. I told him I'm not layin under the car anymore so I'm gonna tow it over to him. Its just really discouraging to be almost done and run into another un-expected stupid problem! Now I remember why my 86 never got done in 11 years!

Btw, put a 16inch prybar in the yoke and couldn't get it to spin. And yes mike, its the shifter that came with the trans. And just for the heck of it I tried installing the shifter the opposite way and its not even close. So I'd have to assume everything is correct.
