interest in buying new converter which one

well guys i have been looking at dana's probuilt automatic site and i wanted either his edge 9.5 2800 stall or the 9.5 vigilante 2800 stall..Dana said that they are the only converters that he will back up with his transmissions....

vigilante converter
https://www.700r4l60e.com/store/prod...&cat=60&page=1

edge converter
https://www.700r4l60e.com/store/prod...&cat=59&page=1

my question is, what makes the vigilante converter cost 200 more than the edge unit...should i splurge the 200 extra bux and get the 759 dollar vigilante converter or should i get the edge 545 dollar converter..

car is a fun street car... no racing drag car by any means..... right now im running a corvette stall and i want more.. it will be behind the following build

355 block
l98 iron heads (afr 180 soon)
FIRST tpi intake
gm hotcam ( .525 .525 lift 218/228 duration)
built 700r4
3.42 gears

nevermind i did my research and i found out the the vigilante is the way to go...

i had a tci street fighter converter once before and that took a crap on me..... reading this vigilante is the only way to go.... i rather spend the 200 extra bux knowing i have a PROVEN converter and the best for a 700r4...

Re: interest in buying new converter which one

here is what a guy said about his edge converter

Yes.. I've destroyed an Edge Racing 9.5" converter. My local shop told me it was dog crap. Specs were goofy, it used a stator out of a foreign make 4 cylinder engine converter (very bad for torque multiplication).. basically it was shoddy.

My shop was able to use the front half of the Edge converter and build the rest. They tried to get the original Edge components in spec but it just wasn't possible.

From my perspective.. the converter my shop built is about 150% better than the Edge. Power delivery is much better and quite obvious (dyno numbers later this month). Andre at Edge "seemed" very knowledgable and was cordial. But the product ended up sucking for my application in light of it's destruction at my hand.

But.. if you do purchase an Edge Racing converter you'll get a very nice T-shirt. They didn't skimp on quality there (Haynes Beefy-T.. the best).

I will warranty my transmissions with other torque converters. Just not the B&M, Art Carr, TCI torque converters. Yank, Pro Torque and others are ok.
