Anyone use a spool?

Anyone have a spool installed in their rear and drive to and from the strip with it? Or occasional street driving? I'm just wondering what the manners of the car would be while driving with one.Obviously you wouldn't be doing any high speed turning with one but generally how does it affect the manners of the car?

Re: Anyone use a spool?

a spool in the stock 7.5" rear is a bomb waiting to happen you will break parts pretty quick since these rears are pretty weak as they are.

Short and dirty answer, dont waste your time.

I'll take that advice.I posted before I did a search on here, almost everyone with one or that has used one is against it in the stock rear,I kind of figured that.

If I upgraded to a 9" or if at all possible a gm 12 bolt,Overall I'm just curious as to how the car will act for ocasional street driving. As far as chirping around turns and such.

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Anyone use a spool?

It'll act about the same as any other kind of car. No surprises.

Re: Anyone use a spool?

I run a 9 inch with a spool and yes, drive it on the street once in a while. Drives pretty normal, tends to dart around a little bit over rough roads, parking lot driving I try to take a wide turn when I can. Driving in the rain feels no different than when it had just a posi. My 4x4 chirps it's tires more than my car which only does it if I have to turn sharp into a parking spot. Never once have heard it chirp making a right turn on the road. This is all very limited street driving like maybe 100 miles a year now a days.
