Transhift cable won't stay in place. I know i'm not the first to have this problem.
Well first off I should say it's a NEW transhift cable. Just replaced it because the old one had snapped and my car wouldn't shift out of park. Well I got a new one, but due to the poor design of the plastic cylinder piece behind the black rubber part, right after the end that bolts onto the tranny, the two plastic clips on that part of the piece are so tight that the metal part it latches onto won't stay in. And when I shift, it just pulls the whole cable right out. The plastic latches won't let the metal part on the bottom stay in. If you've ever had to replace a transhift cable on an automatic th700R4, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about.
Now I've done a temporary fix where I've stuck two nails into the plastic clips to pry them open enough so that the metal part can stay in them and keep the transhift cable from moving when I shift. But I don't feel confident in it as a long term adjustment. So... I know I'm not the first to have this problem. If you have also run into this problem, I would like to hear what your solution to it was. I read that one guy trimmed the plastic clips, but there's got to be more solutions.
