TKO 600, speedo cable won't go in

Transmission: TKO600
Axle/Gears: Strange S60 3.73
TKO 600, speedo cable won't go in
I have a TKO 600 installed in my car and I am trying to get the speedo cable into the gear, but it will not go in. I called fortes and ordered another gear assembly since they said it was needed and the cable won't go into the new one either. Anybody know the fix for this?
