i was told my 700r4 was rebuilt.a few months ago it started getting vary noisy, like rotating vibration noise.the noise occurs in p,n,r,d but goes away in d1 and d2 or once i leave a stop.the trans shifts perfect, drops down at wot, doesnt have od but has been bypassed, has a 3000 stall.
i know the flexplate is ok,had motor out a few weeks ago, converter bolts are nice and tight, any one have any ideas

what does the writen receipt from the shop which rebuilt it state as the work performed and date of rebuild...............lemme guess, no receipt (you know what that means dont you?)
next, how do you know the noise is coming from the tranny itself?
it was built by the guy i got the car from,my father in law told me hes known him for like 30 years and he knows what hes doing(he drives the matco truck)been building engines and transmissions forever.
i know its coming from the trans, because in d1 and d2 it goes away, the noise would always be present if it was in engine

I have 1,2 D and OD
Do you mean that if you just put it in OD and let it do it's thin g that it only makes noise up until about 20 mph?
Again, are you sure the noise is from the tranny, not the rear end, not a wheel bearing ?
farthest back 1,2 are the only gears i cant hear it in,and yah its gone by 20mph,i know its not a wheel berring or rearend because it does it at idle, not moving

if it makes noise sitting still, it can be the torque converter or pump. if it makes noise when you take off from a stop and goes away in 3rd gear, it is a planetary unit.
