Rear Gears

So I tore up my axle ad now it grinds as I drive. What is the cheapest and best way to rebuild it or replace it?

89 camaro rs 5.0 tbi with 5.7 short block using 5.0 heads.

Re: Rear Gears

My local salvage yards where i got mine, good 3.42 gearing no prob there but think the limmited slips worn out. Junkyard your best budget way tho. Unbolt the diff cover and have someone spin the the end thing so you can check for chipped or chewed gears

Re: Rear Gears

First thing to do would be to pop the cover off and see what's farkled. Not just jump to some conclusion of disaster. Although, it may turn out to be true; but do the inspection first.

THen go from there.
