which transmission mount should I buy?

ok I have a 89 T5 with one of those god awful oil filled mounts. tonight it gave up the ghost and blew out. I'd like to replace it with a traditional mount, and I know I have to replace the crossmember at the same time.

A buddy has a crossmember from a 92 Z28 automatic. If I was going to use this crossmember, should I use the mount that was made for use with the 305 and 2.8 of that year, or get the one that would have come with the 350 z28 from that year (which wouldn't have been hooked up to a t5)

thanks... I'm just going to get a rubber mount because i don't want th problems with vibration the poly mounts can have, plus the rubber ones are easier to hook up, not to mention much cheaper. being a v6 owner, I don't beat on the tranny anyway, so I could get years and years of use out of the rubber mount.

Doesn't matter, stock ones are all the same. (except for the "hydraulic" one) Only thing that's different is if you get a poly one.

Re: which transmission mount should I buy?

strange... if they are interchangable, then why is there two different ones? Is one stronger (and more desirable) than the other?

here's the one from the 305

here's the one for the 350

Hard to say...

Maybe the one has harder rubber than the other so it won't tear in half quite as easy.

They're all the same, as far as fit. No difference. Dimensions are identical. Certainly no difference that would make a difference behind a 6-cyl.

Based on the number of those standard mounts I've changed, I'd recommend the poly one. You can find them on Summit's website. Otherwise, like sofakingdom says, they are all pretty much the same.

That's what I ended up doing, but I bought it at o reillys

I've got a friend bringing me a different crossmember tonight, so I should be in good shape for years to come
