Re: stall converter

A GM S-10 (small pickup) converter works beautifully behind a stock LG4.
It's about a 2000 stall compared to the stock ~1400 stall.

Re: stall converter

yeah a 2000-2200 would do great in a stock setup like yours.

Re: stall converter

take video of it,it could be the frnt pump too
only way to really check the converter is to have a preasure check

here's the video i took today. the ticking comes and goes but pretty much always sounds like this while in park. i dont know if somethings loose or if its the TC considering last time i went on a hunch and changed it and the noise quit. i just dont want to keep doing this theres got to be a culprit here.

Make sure your flexplate isnt cracked around the bolt holes on the crankshaft

Re: stall converter

sounds to me line bad flexplate or loose converter bolts. ive had bolts loosen before not long after putting a converter in maybe check and make sure none are loose.

Re: stall converter

ok guys i really appreciate the quick responses im off tomorrow so ill go ahead and get under the bow tie to check the flex plate and bolts. i really hope thats the problem cause i don't want to take that transmission out again it'd be the third time in a years time. unless of course its the flex plate, this thing that gets me is it doesnt do it all the time and it is rpm sensitive up until about 2500 then it goes away maybe the G forces are pushing hard enough to keep whatever is moving still? just a thought

Re: stall converter

Just wanted to say thank you I pulled my trans. Last night to find that the flexplate was cracked all the way around the crank bolts and in danger of completely separating. Which it did when I pulled it off. All is well now got the new one up in there and she's running like a champ, once again thanks for the suggestions

Re: stall converter

Glad to hear it was a easy fix.. I've changed a ton of those flexplates in my cars for the same thing, they just arent strong.

Re: stall converter

I recently traded for a stall and it came with a TCI flexplate, do they have these possible issues too?
