Hurst TH350 Changeover kit fitment issues

I am trying to install the torque arm adapter plate to the tailshaft of my th350 I am going to use for my T/A. Problem is that the plate will not go on all the way because it starts to hit the base of the tailshaft as it goes down. Has anyone else ran into this problem, and know of a way to remedy it? I looked at the B&M kit, and it has a different shape to it that seems like it would not have the same issues, but I want to use the one that I have.

I took pics with my phone, but they arent all that great. I will try to exlain what the pics are showing:

This is as far as they plate will slide down, you can kind of see where the paint has been rubbed off where it hit:

This is a closer look at the same spot, where the paint has been scratched off:

This is a pic of the back of the plate between the tailshaft and the plate itself. It hits the tailshaft and will not slide in place, I cant even get the third bolt in place to tighten it because its so far off:

Any and all help is appreciated!

This one is the B&M Model. When it was on mine, I never had that issue, it justs went on with some clearance all around. Do you know what that TH350 came out of? Maybe a truck trans had a thicker tailshaft that a car trans, just guessing. can you grind off some where it hits to get the clearance needed.

I was looking up these kits, and this one resembles the Hurst version, rather than the B&M version. This may be an older one from B&M, I'm not sure, but they seem to be a different style now:

Hurst:

B&M:

Grinding off some metal was my only real idea, but it seems that the amount needed to grind off may affect the structural integrity of the metal. I am not sure..

They did change it, wow. I guess it is a couple years old now. It was on the top where it interfered right?, If so, most of the load would be carried by the bottom two bolts because the arm will want to pull up under acceleration. You should be fine removing some metal. The new b&m does not have a whole lot of metal between the bolts, so I would infer that you can get away with it.

Re: Hurst TH350 Changeover kit fitment issues

I ended up cutting the bracket to make it fit, and now it seems to sit nicely on the tailshaft housing. Now I can't get the trans mount adapter plate bolted to the transmission, because this bracket is in the way! It won't allow the trans mount bracket to sit flush on the transmission, and makes it tilt. Is there a spacer that is supposed to go between the transmission and the adapter plate that I don't know about?

These problems seem dumb and shouldnt be happening so I even re-verified that I even had a TH-350 trans, and it has the correct pan with 13 mounting bolts, 9" tail, etc..

Help, please.. lol!

Does anybody have any installed pictures of this set-up? If not, than I am going to modify/make my own bracket to install the trans mount.
