Power drop from 4th to 5th gear

I drive a 92 Camaro RS with a T5 tranny. It shifts fine through the first four gears, but when I shift into fifth, the rpm drops real low (2000) and I get that feeling that you get when you shift too early. I know I'm not shifting too soon, and it really slows me down when I'm trying to accelerate onto the interstate or something. Is this normal, or do you think something is wrong with the transmission?
Thanks for any help.

Normal, 5th gear is OD (overdrive). So learn to drive in 4th to get up tp speed and then shift to 5th for cruising.

ditto, OD is less than a 1:1 ratio, so esp with a weak engine you would notice that, I imagine a non tpi 305 with highway gears would be a particularly exasperated instance. I have no idea what setup you have, just using that as an example, the principle applies to any car, just going to be more noticeable in a car with a high FDR and or low engine output.

Re: Power drop from 4th to 5th gear

Thanks for the advice. I just wanted to make sure that nothing was wrong with the transmission. (I have no clue how well the previous onwer took care of it)

Re: Power drop from 4th to 5th gear

I always assume any car I have has been taken care of poorly, and so far I have been correct unfortunately. Point being don't be discouraged about questioning things and blow it off as working fine, never hurts to check.
