Re: Starts in gear

Technically, no. It should have a clutch safety switch.

Re: Starts in gear

do you know if the switch is on the pedal or the tranny? I'm pretty sure it will fail the safety inspection if it starts with the clutch not pushed down. I'm going to grab a manual for it this week sometime but was just curios if anyone knows the answers im looking for. all i found in the seach was "wont start issues" for the automatic cars.

Thank you,

Re: Starts in gear

The neutral safety switch is located on the clutch pedal inside the car. More than likely somebody bypassed it a long time ago. I don't think I'd worry too much about it failing any safety inspection due to that switch being bypassed. If anybody inspecting one of my cars is too stupid to push in the clutch before starting the car, I'd go somewhere else to get it inspected! Even if they did start it without pushing the clutch in, it'd have to be an extremely **** inspector to fail a car because of it.

Re: Starts in gear

It might even save your life! If your car dies on a RR crossing and a train is coming you could move the car in 1st gear with the starter. You never know.
