my rear end basically ate itself the other day, the seal was just changed but i spose it was defective and all my gear dope leaked out, so we scrapped the axle because the spider gears shreaded.

what i neeed to know asap is, my friend has a 10 bolt axle off of a 78 camaro and i need to know if it will bolt directly on. this car is my DD and i [retty much need to have it back on the road as fast as i can.

you need one from a third or forth gen. the 78 is leaf spring.

 

Yup what he said. It wont work. You can take a axle from a 4th gen if you dont mind your wheels sticking out a couple inches in the rear too. Id just find a third gen rear and be done with it.

 

I would not have scrapped it just due to spider gears... Hell, you could probably have lincoln locked it temporarily if you took turns easy until you had a new axle prepped.
