700R4 - General Info Questions
Hi guys, first off I'm still really happy to be a part of this great site. I've enjoyed my time hear very much so far! Now I have another questions for you 700R4 experts. I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to third gen F-bodies, but I've always loved them and am eager to learn. haha
There's an 88' TPI 350 auto GTA that I'm still thinking about buying, but the owner said the trans is slipping and will more than likely require a new one. Here are my questions. I know the R4 is a very common transmission with GM vehicles, but are they all the same and will any R4 bolt into this GTA? Or is there a difference between them.
Here are links to a few R4's I've found that I'm wondering if they will work in this car or not:
http://kpr.craigslist.org/pts/2724702103.html
http://bc.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-...AdIdZ334358332
http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/2707975612.html
Any and all info on the 700R4 that will help me locate the right one for this car will be a big help in deciding weather to buy it or not.
Thanks, and I hope I haven't looked too foolish!

Re: 700R4 - General Info Questions
They will all work, but i would go with the last link. 475 for a rebuild seems alright. I'm not sure what the first link is talking about. It seems he my have taken a 4l60 and turned it into a 700. Anyway, Id go with either of the two other links.
