Need carrier info

I've got an 89 fire bird formula with a 2.73 open rear. I'm looking to switch to a 3.42 posi but I can't find anybody parting out locally. so I'm going to just buy a carrier from somewhere else, but I need to know what to look for.

this car is my daily driver so I can't just take everything out and look. does anyone know offhand the info or where I can find it? I appreciate any help I can get!

Re: Need carrier info

Sounds as if your looking for something used but if you decide to go with new parts and if its just going to be a daily driver than you can start by switching your axles to 28 spline(if needed) and buy a 28 spline Eaton Posi. and 3.42 ring and pinion with a L.P.W. support cover. Its not a inexpensive way to go but that's what I did with my DD and am very happy with my decision.

I am hoping for used but new and cheap would work. I'm only looking to put about 275 rwhp down. is there a specific size for the crown gear? I know certain carriers won't work in some housings which is mainly what I'm looking to find out

Thanks, yes I went the "path less traveled" but had the opportunity to have one of, if not the best rear end shops in CA. work on my car .I let them/him walk me through the process and in return received a life long commitment from his shop.
