Standard Trans Power Capability

So I have a standard 700R4 from an 84 Firebird it either had the 4 Cylinder or V6 I can't remember because the motor was already removed. I had a 383 built and installed in it. When the guy put the motor in he said that he had put on a new stall converter on it.. Now my question is will the tranny hold up to that 383 or is it going to just ruin it? from my understanding the power will be 420H 410T.

Thanks!!!

Re: Standard Trans Power Capability

The 700r4 from an fbody v6 will not work on a v8. Different bell housings. Even if it did bolt up it would not last at all behind a 383
