I ve just installed 3.73 gears in my 91 rs ,but now I'm hitting the rev limiter to soon. I know I can buy a new ebl flash ecm to fix the problem for 400 bucks but hear that there are ways to fix this cheaper. Any help I get would be wonderful

 

Sounds like you need to change the speed sensor or speedo gear. Whichever the car has.

 

I was also told I could put a switch on vss wire at the ecm but id rather not cut into the harness. I guess some how the gear change moved the speedo up to 110mphs to soon so I'm hitting the governor. I just need to know how to recalibrate the speedo for the gear change.

 

The TBI vehicles don't have a rev-limiter in the ECM, they do have a speed limiter. Which is what it is hitting.

Need to swap the driven & possibly the drive gear for the VSS. They are located in the transmission tail-housing.

See the sticky's up top, there is one for the 700R4 speedometer gears.

yep, when i put my 4:10's in i just bought a speedo gear from the dealer, like $10.00
and it slowed the speedo down

 

So I need to go to a dealer of some sort an ask for a speedo gear for 3.73 gears?
