t56 speedo trouble

i did a t56 swap in my 91 firebird (originally had an auto) and it drives great, love it. i finally got around to hooking up some of the wiring and all went well except for the speedo. i got new plugs from hawks third gen and i just hooked up the plug to the wires that were on the original plug (yellow and purple). iknew it was going to be off but went ahead with it anyway. first off it read i was doin 100 when i was crawlin out of the drive way and when i got on the road to try and drive it the car didnt want to go anywhere. the engine was sputtering and dieing and stalling and it didnt want to move. i unplugged the wire and it was back to normal. so whats the problem and how do i fix it?

Dakota Digital SGI-5 converter box.

T56 VSS isnt calibrated for your speedo. That converter box will fix it though.

The stock VSS puts out a LOT fewer pulses than the T56 VSS setup. Here, in the T56 sticky thread is the how-to-fix: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/post...1-post147.html

Neither. My explanation of the differences:
