383sbc and tranny help

383sbc and tranny help

this is my first post ever on this website so i dont know if im in the right place. just recintly bought a car with a 383sbc moter on it it has 500hp+ and like 450 torq not exact on the hp and torq just going of of what he said well the car came with no transmission and i just bought a nwc t-5 from a 86 camaro 5 speed its getting rebuilt but just wondering will the tranny hold up to my 383 (car will not have slicks just a daily driver with some burnouts here and there and down shifting like from 4th to 3rd) not for the track or nothing. any help would help just want to make sure before i put in the tranny thankyou.

Hey, 86, welcome to TGO. As most questions have been asked and answered, a search will generally find the info you require.

The general consensus is that if you drive reasonably (no slicks, no hard shifting, no screaming launches, etc.), the trans will probably hold up--mine has for several years behind a 350/330.
