Hey i recently bought an 83 camaro with a B&M Magashifter kit installed in it. While in drive it seems to shift really low and occasionaly drops out of gear into neutral. Also when i go into the 1,2,3 gears on the shifter it tends to be really sticky and having to force the shifter up or down hard to get it to click into the next gear. Is the shifter installed incorrectly or could it be problems with in the tranny.

also when is it tough to shift?, if my car is cold along with tranny fluid cold it sticks real bad to where i dont even try to shift manually anymore till its warm. After driving a few miles and it warms up it shifts manually fine.

 

should work fine 100% of the time cold or hot.

has soon has you unhook it from the tranny (remove cotter pin.)
you will see how easy the shifter works. when hooked up right it should only be furm push pull.. not hard.

 

Ok thanks guy ill adujust it and hopefully that will stop it from falling out of gear.
and it a pain to shift all the time it feels like the ratchet is barly catching because some time i have to bump it forward or back twise to get it to grab that next gear.

 

Sounds like its out of adjustment, mine works pretty easy and has never fallen out of gear. You're also supposed to lubricate the ratchet mechanism occasionally, so I'd do that while you're at it

 

So i have adjusted the shifter like it says but not it dosnt seem to reach park? and i have retryed many times but no matter what i do the leaver does not move far enough to fully put the car in park? It tells me to adjust it in low gear 1 and move the tranny into first too set the nuts then move the car to park and the tanny leaver into park and adjust the swivle. Have dont many times but it seem eather i have park but no first gear or first but no park (hovers between reverse and park) could it be my shifter?

 

Mine does the not fully in park and will go only to overdrive no lower.
Never slips outta gear, but is a PITA to shift! .luckly I wrestled and played football in college.
