'89 l03/T5 rear gear swap. Can I just use SGI-5?
Hello,
I tryed searching around on this topic and it seems people are only using the SGI-5 when going to a totally different transmission like a T-56.
I swapped 4.10 gears in to a 89 TBI car with a T5. Now when the speedo says 100 im really doing 70 (per GPS).
Can the SGI-5 be used to adjust this out and not change the signal type?
Thanks

Yes.
If the gear inside the trans. is purple / 7 tooth, the VSS needs a 22 tooth driven gear. That's your cheaper and easier option.
Since some of those are discontinued and that option may not exist, you could go through with the SGI-5 to reduce the VSS signal some, since the VSS feeds a VSS buffer box, which feeds the ECM and speedo.
I've been wanting to try a smaller, less expensive motorcycle-use speedo reducer / increaser instead of the SGI-5 but haven't gotten around to it.
