Need help with tranny cooler.

I'm wanting to add a aftermarket cooler to my 700r4 equipped camaro. I've did some searching and read that people are using the factory cooler and a external cooler. I've always seen people using just a external cooler but I want my tranny to last as long as possible which would be the reason for the cooler. Could someone explain how to run it through both I just can't get a mental picture of how to do it and everything not be a loopty looped mess. Also what brand cooler and size would I need?

Re: Need help with tranny cooler.

Word to the wise as they say.. Back in 92 my radiator ruptured. It sent anti-freeze into my tranny thru the cooler and tranny fluid to the engine via the radiator. ruined both, car totaled by the insurance company. I'm on my 5th 3rd Gen and plan to do an external tranny cool. I've aways felt like if you have a chance to avoid this headache, TAKE IT..lol Stone

Re: Need help with tranny cooler.

You want to run the tranny cooler in series with the radiator. That means, Tranny > radiator > cooler > tranny.

I have pictures of how to install a transmission cooler in my build thread. There is also a picture in the 3 core radiator sticky in the "cooling" section, last page.
