T-5 tranny swap questions
ok, ive got an 88 camaro that the floors and frame have turned to dust on, and ive got an 82 thats mostly solid but no engine or transmission so im planning to take everything from the 88 and swap it over to the 82, my problem is that the 82 had an automatic and the 88 has the t-5 5 speed. the transmission mount that bolts to the frame doesnt fit where the mount from the original went, does the t-5's mount sit further back than the mount for the automatic or is this a difference between 82 and 88's. the mount when bolted up to one side doesnt reach the frame on the other side. just trying to figure out if its a matter of having to move the mount back or if i have to get a different one

Yes the crossmember is different and mounts farther back.
They added 2 more holes in 83 that are the same through 92. The later x-mem uses the rearward 82 pr of holes hole plus one new one.
Porbably the easiest thing to do is, get the right crossmember; mark the new hole location on the "frame"; drill small holes upwards, through the "frame" and through the floor; hole-saw about a 1" dia hole centered on the pilot you just drilled; use a flange nut on top of the bolt; and put a plastic plug in your new 1" hole. Probably have to pop th efront seats out and pull back the carpet. Kinda sucks; lotta work; probably take you at least 10 minutes from start to finish, maybe even as much as 12 if you're slow like me which I doubt. You can probably get it knocked out in less than 5 if you don't stop for a couple of cold ones along the way.

Re: T-5 tranny swap questions
thanks a lot, i saw aftermarket mounts for doing tranny swaps and seen that they had 3 holes in them so i was wondering if that was the case, ive got to do some patching in the floorboards so the areas gonna be opened up already, was just hoping to get the interior done before i started on the engine and transmission so knowing that, i can get the mount set up beforehand and not wait till i get everything in place, thanks a lot
