Dana 44 question.

Does anyone know if I can remove the axle tubes from Dana 44 rear end & use them on another Dana 44 carrier housing? Did a gear swap this week & found some damage to the area where the carrier bearings ride in the housing. Have a request in the parts wanted section for just a bare housing assembly, but
know the odds of finding one. Hoping this other scenario is possible.

TIA,
sparky!!!

Re: Dana 44 question.

They should be able to swap in. You just need to grind out the welds then make sure everything is aligned before welding them back in. Is the donor housing for a third gen? If not then it won't work as it won't have the torque arm mount cast into it. If it is for a third gen, what's wrong with using the entire diff?
