Swapping a Jerico 4 seed in place of a T5
OK,
1) I've got a T5 car that I will not cut up.
2) I have a Jerico DR-4 transmission.
3) Hurst makes a shifter (part #3917960) that is listed for use in the T-10 F-cars offered in 1982 (evidently not 1983) and 1963-1967 Corvettes.
4) The Hurst linkage kit #3733162 is also listed to fit 1982/83 F-cars and 1963-1967 Corvettes.
My questions:
1) Do the 1982/83 manual tranny cars have a hole in the tunnel for the shifter that is in a different spot than the later T5 cars?
2) According to page 2 of this Hurst pdf document, the T-10 cars had a special tail housing to mount the torque arm, if that is correct how can the same install kit work for both the 1963-67 Muncie Corvettes and the 1982-83 torque arm T-10 Camaros?
Part numbers for the torque arm transmission shift kits:
T-10 373-0021
Saginaw 373-0022
Anybody done this swap and have any suggestions?

BIGMODS has done this with a Jerico, not sure if your is similar or anything about the trans really.
your largest hurdle, if using EFI, will the the speed sensor, since the jerico, IIRC, has no provision for it and nothing is offered for it. Unless yours is somthing different.

Re: Swapping a Jerico 4 seed in place of a T5
the reason hurst shifter only works on 82 is because in 83 the t10 was unavailable, the saginaw 4 speed was for the first half of the year.
the linkage kit that i bought came with rods to support either trans (t10 or saginaw). i dont belive you need to cut another hole in your floor, but you will need a set of pedals from a 82 car with mech. linkage. unless you plan to fab up a hydraulic system. heres a link to my for sale thread let me know if you need anything. thanks -art https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...r-t10-all.html

Bringing this back from the dead as I am finally ready to get this done. The Hurst linkage kit #3733162 will not work with the Jerico (shifter plate will not bolt to the transmission).
The box:

The inline shifter that is going to take some "convincing" to work with the stock floor. More than anything, this is what scares me about this swap (what I'm going to have to do to the floor).

Re: Swapping a Jerico 4 seed in place of a T5
Finally got this thing in. In the end I had to fab a new shifter plate and a new 3-4 shift arm but I didn't have to modify the floor in any way.

I had to create my own 3-4 shift lever to get the linkage to tuck in closer to the transmission so I could gain clearance in the tunnel.

3-4 shift lever clearance in the tunnel

1-2 shift fork in the tunnel

And the shifter bolted to the shifter plate in the hole

Next up...working out the hydraulic linkage and then a video of this thing in action.

Thanks for updating!!
Is there more clearance than there looks with the bolts & tunnel?
Pics look like they **may** interfere when engine torque comes into play??
