Th700r4 rebuild kit
Th700r4 rebuild kit
Hi Guys,
I just toasted a reasonably fresh th700r4.
I pulled it out of the car/stripped it and found the 3-4 pack was buggered.
It lasted only 5 runs down the 1/8 mile and was slipping the 2-3 shift and flaring and one run i had to valve bounce it over the line in 2nd as it wouldn't get 3rd.
This th700 has recently been put into my 4x4 Hilux behind a turbo'd 383 holden stroker and the car is just over 2 tonne.
The trans was an ebay buy but can conform it was fresh as i had to take the guts of the trans out to swap the output shaft to suit my transfer case before i could use it.
The particulars of the trans build are not known except i saw a transgo separator plate with 4 holes plugged, a .50 boost valve with some grinding on the rod. corvette servo, and a hole drilled in the bathtub of the valve body.
This is the first time i've really looked inside an auto transmission but there must be something funny going on as it slipped the 2-3 shift as soon as i fed a bit of power into it. I guess the previous builder done something wrong.
I had been looking around over here...(Down Under) for someone to rebuild it, they wanted an arm and a leg to do the job and I have decided I want to have a crack at rebuilding the th700r4 myself at home.
I stumbled apon a website called probuilt automatics and ordered their kit for "pro street elite" and will have it shipped to Australia.
I also ordered their dvd and atsg manual.
Can anyone round here offer any info about the above kit? I know i should have done the research first but I have been known to make all kinds of weird decisions at 2 am in the morning half asleep at the laptop with credit card in hand... Hahaha.
any info about the kit? are these guys reputable and easy to deal with.
Thanks men
