tv cable gone wrong

Car: 89 trans am gta
Engine: 5.7L tpi
Transmission: 700r4 4 speed
Axle/Gears: borg warner aussie 9-bolt 3.27
tv cable gone wrong

hey all i was adujusting my tv cable out of recomendation and when i adjusted it i had my dad drive it the next day and he said it would shift from 1st to 2nd but then when it tried to shift into third the car just revved up we tried playing with the cable going to the base setting then all the way in and out then back to where it was to the start but it still does the same thing, what did i do wrong?????
