82 700r4 swap
The 200C cars came with different crossmember mounting holes in the frame of the car then the 1984-199292 700R4 cars did. Our crossmember utilizes your 200C mounting holes and places the transmission mounting hole where it needs to be to install the 700R4- (hawks Thirdgen)
ummm is this correct can i just get a 84-92 stock 700r4 crossmember? will it line up with my holes in my frame? trying to do the swap before TGF12 haveing too get a aftermarket crossmember will put a crunch on it

Re: 82 700r4 swap
IIRC,back when i put a 700r4 in my '82,the two rear
holes for the th200 x member were re-used for the
front holes of the 700 x member, one existing hole was
there for a rear bolt of 700 xmember but didn't have
theaded insert, and the 4th hole had to be drilled.
i don't remember any major difficulties.

just put a washer and nut on the other side-was a bit of
a trick to get the washer, nut and a wrench in there as i
recall,but nothing too hard.

more ?s for the swap. What did you do for shift cables? were u able to use stock? did you need any relocation brackets? and is the torque arm the same length as the 700r4 torque arm? if you could go into fine detail i got a 700 r4 shifter and crossmember.

Re: 82 700r4 swap
can't remember if i used stock or not,do remember
that with the 700r4 that the cable ends up in kind of
an "s"shape making shift movement stiff compaired
to the TH350 setup i had in before(super T-10 before
that
)I tried a brand new cable from the dealer and
it was a little better but still stiff.A stock 700r4
shifter from '84 z was used,but i think an '82 3spd
shifter could be modified to work if 700r4 shift not
readily avalible.
Torque arm length is different-a 700 torque arm will
be needed.Same thing with driveshaft.
