What Starter for HD SBC/T56?
What Starter for HD SBC/T56?
So I've had a 383 built out of a 14093638 block (4-bolt main, 1 pc RMS out of an 87-95 HD pickup, apparently) and I'm bolting it up to an LT1-style T56. I bought an 95 LT1 Camaro mini-starter thinking I couldn't go wrong, but . . . the starter drive is about an inch away from the flywheel (153 tooth.)
Is there any factory MINI starter I can use here? Or do I need to go with a multi-position aftermarket starter? I need to stick with a light weight mini.

If the 2 starter bolts are the same length, you don't have a 95 LT1 Camaro starter and need to get one.

This is an LT1 starter. They're between $150-$250 new generally. I suggest you source on from a junkyard. If nothing else you can use it as a core.
