It depends on which car or truck it was in. Some thirdgens had shift points at 5500 others lower. The WOT shift points are controlled by the governor which is easily changed.

Well it's a l03 with 2.73s all stock I just feel like when I mash the pedal from and it's in first she revs high before taking off didn't know if that was normal or not

Your second post doesn't seem to bear any relation to the first. The high revving taking off in first gear could be the torque convertor or it could be slipping clutches.
