Noise with Clutch Pedel Down
I have a 1987 IROC that I changed from automatic to a T5 WC transmission. I rebuilt the 1992 Camaro T5 prior to installation with all new synchronizer, and a new 2nd gear and a new slave and master cylinder for the clutch. After installation when I push the clutch down it make a growling rotary noise. The transmission shifts smooth and makes no noise while in any gear. I thought it was a bad throw-out bearing (even though I put a new one in initially), so I removed the transmission and installed another throw-out bearing and reinstalled everything. But I still have the same noise. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Re: Noise with Clutch Pedel Down
If it is only making noise when the clutch is pushed in I would suspect something with the clutch. If only pressed all the way down I would look for something hitting or rubbing from an over extended clutch.

Gotta be something with the clutch.
If it's not the throwout, it'd about have to be a fornicated pressure plate.

What do you mean by fornicated? The clutch and pressure plate are new and only have about 800 miles on them. Would there be anything inside the transmission that would cause this problem. If I don't move the car and push the clutch in there is no noise. But once I move the car and push the clutch in, then the noise starts.

Re: Noise with Clutch Pedel Down
I had one that did that same thing Sir. I finally found the the fly wheel had wore down enough to allow the center of the clutch to rub the fly wheel bolts. It was not worn bad by looking with the naked eye but with a straight edge across a new one going over to the old one you could tell.
