Trouble setting TV cable
From what I've read, the 700R4 on my 1984 Camaro is shifting about 10mph early each gear.(2nd at 10mph, 3rd at 20mph, 4th at 35mph) So I'm trying to "reset" the TV cable but the adjusting mechanism won't ratchet/click when I try to force the throttle lever to WOT. I think I am giving the throttle lever quite a good amount of force, but the TV cable is preventing me from rotating it further and not ratcheting. I tried lubing the mechanism but still nothing.
How hard should I have to force the throttle lever to WOT until the ratcheting mechanism should click?
Also, even without the TV cable attached, the accelerator doesn't rotate the throttle lever quite all the way, as in I can rotate it maybe 1-5% further. Is that normal?
Thanks guys.

Re: Trouble setting TV cable
Those are okay shift points for normal driving and normal gearing. If those were your full-throttle shift points, then something would be badly wrong with a 2.73:1 axle, but about right for LO3 / LG4 with 4.56:1 gears swapped in. We don't determine good shift points by road speed anyway, we use engine RPM.

Unfortunately my car didn't come with a tach. Lol
Thanks for the reply.
EDIT: Yes, the shift points were at average throttle.

Re: Trouble setting TV cable
i had the same issue with my tv cable, i had to reset, then hold down the "D" button on the tv housing while pushing throttle to WOT to help 'pursuade' the cable through. it took a considerable amount of force for me as well. hope this helps...
