9 Bolt leaking...
While going through my car this spring I noticed the rear end (which is a 9 bolt from an 89 firebird) was leaking from each side. Not horrible just a little drip sitting inside the wheel. Now i've had both bearings replaced one last year drivers side and the passenger side the year before. the bearing probably arn't bad but the seals might be. The axles have to be pulled and bearings thrown away to replace the seals. Maybe the wrong bearings or seals were installed since they are side specific. Any way there is a better solution to fix the leak other then trying new bearings and seals again?

I use seals from NAPA with no leaks. But yes you will have to replace the bearings and seals again, making sure the housing and axle is free of rust also. Look to make sure you don't have a groove in the axle where the seal runs, and you can also put a film of silicone on the metal edge of the seal.

Thanks, I will look out for that and give the silicone a try. Hope it will work this time around.
