Okay so I have an 02 Z28, tranny went out, ordered a rebuilt one from some idiot in Michigan, he sent me one for the LT1 rather than the LS1. So I just have a 4l60e sitting in my garage.

Now the tranny in my 91 RS (5.0 TPI) is going out. I bought the car from a guy on eBay, he stroked the motor to a 383 but kept the original tranny in the car. The car isn't a show car by any means, it's quick on the feet but not worth dumping a bunch of money in.

Is there any way at all that I could fit the 4l60e into the 91, without swapping the engine too (obviously).

If not... I have a 4l60e for sale

It will "fit" right in.

However, the "E" in the model name stands for "electronic"; its shifting is controlled ENTIRELY by the drive train computer. Since your 91 lacks this feature in its computer, it won't "work".

Doesn't have anything to do with the "engine" as such.

I had a feeling about that, but wasn't too sure. My mechanical knowledge isn't quite as good as I'd like it to be.

Thanks for the help.

you can get a 16197427 ecm from a later model truck. you will have to repin the harness from your ecm to the new one. get someone that can tune it for you like tbi chips or someone on gearheadefi.com. it will run the 4l60e for you in your car. or get an aftermarket controller.

You could get a manual valve body for it
