t5 gear engagement question
t5 gear engagement question
i have an 87 z28 with a nonWC t5. 305 tpi.
so i took my trans out, replaced a blown up throw out bearing and installed a new pro 5.0 shifter, and when i reinstalled the trans, the car would not shift into any gears except reverse.
could my problem be the new shifter? could it be the hydraulic clutch system not being bled for the new throw out? what could my issue be?
id greatly appreciate the help

Re: t5 gear engagement question
I've replaced my share of throwout bearings and clutches on thirdgens and have never had an issue with the slave needing to be bled. Not that weird things don't happen. You didn't open a hyd. line for any reason did you? You should be able to switch through all the gears with the engine off and foot off the clutch pedal cause the gears will 'line up' when moving the shifter around. Other wise my guess is the shifter isn't set right in the transmission. Possible to that the mechanisim the shifter lever sits in is damaged. I suggest taking the shifter off and taking a look.

Re: t5 gear engagement question
assuming it shifts into all gears while off,
Clutch fork and it's spring clip go in the same groove on the throwout bearing.
If the spring clip is installed outside that groove, what you're describing will happen.
