Great.. another TCC lockup problem.

Alright guys this is my first post so PLEASE bear with me I will give you as much information as possible. I have an 83 Z28 camaro with a 700r4 and when i pulled it out for the summer my TCC does NOT engage.

(Note : the ecm was ripped out after the tcc stopped engaging so maybe thats causing a problem?)

Transmission shifts fine, fluid level is good, but it just doesnt work. so far i tried jumping the ADLD connectors, replacing the pressure switch with an NO switch and have even replaced the solenoid.

The way I have it wired inside my transmission now is from the NO 4th gear pressure switch (single terminal) it is connected directly to the ground side of the solenoid, the positive end was routed up through a toggle and then to the brake switch where it gets power until the brake pedal is depressed.

I have tried searching for literally a month and I keep coming up empty, that was the way I was instructed to do it at a local transmission shop and now I'm back at square one. Aperion, Rbob, SOMEBODY. what am I missing?

Thank you, Joe

No vacuum switch? Hmm. With it getting power, maybe the clutch itself, ( inside the converter ) is stuck or glazed?

No, no vacuum switch, this would be mostly used for long rides (i like to travel on highways and interstates a lot) so it would only be locked up for long distance driving, i wouldnt bother with it for short trips.

The problem is i travel so often it takes its toll, plus with my car being an 83 i've read that its not good for the transmission for it not to lock up so im trying to keep driving to a minimum for now. I dont mind the rpms being higher except its much louder (3" shorty headers and catless makes for a very loud cruise at 2300rpm) last year it was right around 1700-1800 so i dont know what happened. I didnt change anything until after it stopped working.

Is there any way to check to see if its the TC itself? I'm not sure if its stock but when i took it to get the alignment done the guy stated that i could stand to get a bigger converter.

Bump. also if there is no fluid going through my transmision and is causing excess heat would that be why my temp gauge slowly rises on the highway then comes down in city driving/stop lights? or is that a seperate issue altogether?
