I had an opportunity to time my car at the track yesterday and found some strange problem with my transmission. I ran five runs for test and tune and had ran two times with no problem, then on the third and fourth run the trans wouldnt shift to third. I let off the throttle and wind down then it will go into third and fourth. On the drive home it worked without troubles. This is a 87 GTA with 5.7 TPI and stall converter. I have some time slips also.
If someone familiar would look at this, that would be great. Thanks.

 

My second run was progressing worse as the car got warmer, which may have caused a trans shift error.
1st run: 0.242 RT, 1.969 60Ft, 5.813 330Ft, 74.67 Speed, 9.087 660Ft, 93.59 vehicle speed, 14.357 ET

2nd run: 0.379 RT, 2.103 60Ft, 6.021 330Ft, 73.77 Speed, 9.334 660Ft, 90.68 Vehicle speed, 14.789 ET

 

Is there anyone familiar with my trans problem?

 

My car has some mods, but I bought it with them, so I dont know what exactly had been done with it. I will have to examine it to determine what all is done. I was told it has a different cam, pistons and heads. I do know that is was lowered and has an aftermarket panhard bar and it has poly bushings. Otherwise, I dont know for sure. How can I tell without taking it all apart? Is there any trans people familiar with this?

 

I will have to speak with a trans specialist local once I find one here. Meanwhile, is there anyone familiar with that problem?
