Switching gear ratio from 3.08 to 3.42

Hi, would I be better off buying a new ring and pinion (yukon) thick gear or to go searching for a rearend out of a V6 (GU6) in the junkyard? Did the v6 have the G80 limited slip like my iroc? Im looking to keeping the swap relitively cheap. Im have never tore into a rear end before so any advice would be appreciated with this swap.

never tore into a rear end before

relitively cheap
Given those 2 facts, buying a R&P is not a wise choice.

No the vast majority of 6-cyl cars did not have posi... it wasn't standard, and people who bought them basically weren't interested in "performance" to begin with, otherwise they'd have bought something besides a 6-cyl; so while it might have been possible to order one that way, I'd bet that it happened so rarely as to be close enough to "never" for most practical purposes.

I live in Akron NY 35 mins NE of Buffalo. Im on the fence of swapping in a 4th gen rear. I know that I would need different proportioning valve and the axle length is slightly longer. I need to look at some other threads regarding a 4th gen rear end swap to see if it is my best option.
