Found damage in my ten bolt.
Bone stock 3.42 ten bolt,
Removed it from my car to swap in a 3.08 axle to try to help my 1/4 mile times both on launch and top end.
Removing my cover I found all teeth on the top and bottom pinion teeth were chipped away on the tips and a thrust washer for the left side gear was missing and half of it was twisted and stuck to my magnet inside the cover.

Whats the best solution to rebuild this axle? Will a truetrac suffice to prevent this same scenario from happening again? I see Auburns are built similar so I don't want to go that route I think.

So wait, you're going from a 3.42 to a 3.08? If you can find yourself a Zexel Torsen for this thing that would be best. The is are both a 2 and 3 series carrier for the ZF's. Unless you fork down the cash for an Eaton. Just know it's quite an involved project to swap out a posi unit.

camaromike222- Yes im going from 3.42 to 3.08 because im running out of rpm at the end of the track. I need something I know wont break under my current power. throwing down 400-500 for a truetrac is not a problem for me as long as I know it will suffice.
92droptopws6-That is all the damage I saw as well, even if I replace those parts, is it worth it? What would prevent it from happening again? keep in mind my signature, I'm sure I am putting out well over 600hp.
