What angle do you want the engine/tranny relative to the car being level?

What angle do you want the engine/tranny relative to the car being level?
Just curious... i have some adjustments using shims on the transmission mount. i cannot recall if either the umi transmission crossmember or the aftermarket polyurethane transmission mount froced me to shim or if the car even had the correct transmission mount to begin with... i will soon be adjusting my pinon angle since its lowed and i installed an adjustable torque arm... so my question is how important is the angle or slope of the engine /tranny? its been awhile and iv lost some knowledge on this subject and how to set the correct pinon angle for a street driven vehicle...

The angle depends a lot on clearances but if you have the room, the engine crankshaft plane and transmission output shaft should be pointing right at the diff yoke.
With my tall tires, my diff yoke sits very high, I can't drop the front of the engine any lower and can't raise the transmission any more because the headers hit the underside of the floor. It's not perfect but it's as close as I can get.
Since the engine/tranny is pointed down at the back, the pinion on the diff is pointed upward at the same angle. This makes the u-joints happy.
