1982 Z28 200C TO 4L60 SWAP HELP!

Hey everyone just dropped a 383 into my old 82 z and have a built up 4L60 to go in, it has the tail shaft adapter, my questions are do I need a new crossmember?, and what about driveshaft length?

any advise would be great.
Thanx Don.

almost a bolt-in swap if you use driveshaft, crossmember, and torque arm from
'83-later 700r4 f-bod. swapped 700r4 into my '82 back in '95-IIRC, the
700r4 x-member uses the two rear th200 x-member bolts for the 700
front bolts, one hole exists but has no nut for 700 x-member rear hole
(have to get a nut up in there with a long wrench) will have to drill a new
hole for the 4th bolt and fish a nut up in there.Pretty easy swap

Re: 1982 Z28 200C TO 4L60 SWAP HELP!

OK here goes, It's January in sunny Edmonton at a -13c, time to start planing the mods, I need a little help. Thanks for the previous reply, I've decided to go with the UMI torque arm and crossmember, my tranny builder says the 700r4 is the same length as a 4L60, does anyone know for sure, I trust this tranny guy, as well anyone have the measurement for the drive shaft I have to build, just going with the stock diff for now with an eaton true trac and 3.73 gears, the cars been cage and has 800k on the 383 that went in in August but the poor metric 200 is not going to put up with much more, also looking at the ws6 hood from Stinger Fiberglass, anyone delt with these guys.... Thanks in advance for any advise..

700-R4 = 4L60

Same thing, different name; they changed the naming scheme in about 91 or so, but the trans stayed the same.

Stock driveshaft out of any 83 - 2002 F-body, auto or stick, 6-cyl or V8, will work. Best to find a 98-02 aluminum one if you can.

Can't help with the hood thing. Those are all altogether too ugly for me. I know nothing about them.
