shifter lifting when accelerating at high rpm

Ok so I just recently got a 91 rs with a 5 speed in it and whenever I accelerate fast and at high rpm the shifter lifts. If anyone could give me insight into why this is happening and how to fix it that would be great

Re: shifter lifting when accelerating at high rpm

You have a problem with a rubber mount. Either an engine or trans mount, or the torque arm front mount.

Trans mount is bad.

Welcome to TGO, bs.

X2 for the trans mount. Before replacing, you may wish to school yourself on the different materials.

Should you have a secondary cross member, I'd recommend swapping it out for a single piece and using an OE-type mount.
