4L60e TransGo HD2 Advice

I am currently putting an LT1 in my 89. I have the transmission on an engine stand and want to put the HD2 shift kit in while its easy. I have heard that the HD2 is the way to go. I have heard mixed views on how to go about doing it as far as skipping some steps and doing others. Its just going to be a weekend driver, but I just want to firm up the shifts and get a little more performance out of the trans. If anyone has done this could they give me some info on their build? Are the instructions that come with the kit any good? I have a trans cooler, I dont know if I need/want a stall. Also, I have read about corvette servos as well, would that be something to do now and will they work well with the shift kit? The engine was freshly rebuilt, everything else is stock. I may have the pcm tuned, which I would let my tuner know that I have a shift kit installed, most likely tuned by pcm for less. Any information would help.
